Here’s the story of a very interesting project based on the amazing Honda CR-Z.

Nick, our client for many years, aquired his pearl white Honda CR-Z when new in 2011. Being no stranger the world of car tuning, and a highly qualified Engineer by profession, it wasn’t long before Nick got around to thinking about improving the performance of his CR-Z.

Nick approached us to discuss the possibility of achieving approximately 300hp at the hubs and improving the chassis dynamics, whilst maintaining all of the hybrid advantages. Research and number crunching ensued whereby we came up with some ideas that should meet the objectives.

The prospect of yielding 300hp whilst retaining the fuel economy and tax advantages of hybrid technologies brough to mind the phrase “Have Your Cake And Eat It”, which subsequently gave birth to the title of “Projekt HYCAEI”!

Throughout the course of this project, we will endeavour to bring you as much detail as possible.

Watch this space!

The Nissan R35 GT-R can suffer from high differential oil temperatures when under high load conditions such as circuit driving on trackdays. These excessive differential oil temperatures may affect the lubrication properties of the oil and/or the LSD’s performance, potentially causing damage to the differential unit.

Hence why HKS has developed a Diff Oil Cooler Kit for the Nissan R35 GT-R to solve these problems which helps reduce the differential oil temperature, while maintaining LSD performance and preventing transmission oil degradation.

HKS Nissan R35 GT-R Diff Oil cooler features:
・ Oil Cooler Core Size: 200×132×48 (cooling fin,) with a core that was designed specifically for R35.
・ Core installation position is inside the R35’s rear undertray. HKS has designed a special low drag air duct to let air into the cooler’s core for efficient cooling.
・ The air duct is made of CFRP to match the factory Nissan rear under tray. Countersunk screws provide flat surface for improved appearance.
・ Highly durable AQP Racing Hoses are used for oil piping.
・ HKS original Oil Pump is included in the kit for reliable operation and accurate oil flow maintenance.
・ Relay box, harnesses, and ON/OFF switch to install the oil pump are included in the kit.

In-house testing by HKS Japan at the Fuji International Speedway showed that the differential oil temperature dropped by approximately 37℃. The result also showed that the DCT oil temperature dropped by approximately 5℃, and coolant temperature by approximately 3℃.

The HKS Diff Oil Cooler for the Nissan R35 GT-R is priced at £1875.00 plus VAT. Delivery is expect in October 2011. TO order now please click on:- http://www.tdi-plc.com/catalog/differential-cooler-p-19148.html

Hot off the press for Civic 2.2 i-CTDi owners hungry for more urge! Torque Developments international has worked intensively using its extensive dyno testing facilities http://www.tdi-plc.com/index.php?pge=C_dynocam to begin research work on a high performance ECU remap for the 2.2 diesel Civic that enhances all round performance and produces substantial power gains.

Many channels of data were gathered during each test for proper scientific analysis before each incremental step up in performance tuning. All critical engine health parameters have been monitored and kept within the limits of reliability.

Thus far, having optimised several mapping parameters and increased turbo boost by just 10% we have recorded an impressive gain of 24 bhp at the hubs, while torque rises by a mighty 40 lb.ft!

Torque Development’s Sam Borgman says “The standard Honda intercooler’s thermal capacity is the big bottle neck now, but we should be able to get another 10% power output with a more performance orientated unit. Already though the way the car drives is transformed, it really wants to go!’

Unfortunately the standard clutch will not handle this upgrade, so an uprated item is going to be a ‘must have’ for 2.2 diesel owners who want to go worrying Type R’s!

Watch this space for more news on this fantastic upgrade that retains economy and gives the 2.2 diesel Civic the urge it deserves. As Honda would say, ‘hate something, change something, make something better!’

It’s always nice when other people appreciate the quality of Torque Development’s work – in writing.

“The performance uplift is dramatic.”

“It fills the CTR’s cammy VTEC void to bursting with low and mid-range torque.”

“The result is very impress any-gear, any-revs performance, and the 2.0-litre motor is still happy to rev to 8K and beyond.”

In this case it was Evo magazine’s Richard Meaden who supplied the platitudes as he recently tested a Torque Developments supercharged Honda Civic FN2 and was impressed by both the quality and performance of our upgrade, as published in Evo no:145.

Bookings are being taken now for the FN2 supercharger upgrade, which provides excellent performance at an affordable price. Please contact Torque Developments staff for more details.
