HKS DCT transmission oil cooler for 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R GR6
Arriving soon at TDi-plc (Torque Developments) the HKS DCT transmission Oil Cooler kit for the 2011 Nissan R35 GT-R with the GR6 semi-automatic gearbox. Designed for both road and track driving, the HKS DCT Oil Cooler is designed to protect the clutch and transmission, plus offers a firmer gearshift – realistically if you want to take your GT-R on trackdays, you’re going to need an HKS DCT cooler kit.
Now being pre-ordered at TDi-plc, HKS has designed the DCT Oil Cooler kit to overcome the problems when the stock Nissan R35 GT-R is driven in a spirited manner, particularly on track. If subjected to any prolonged driving where the front and rear axle speeds differ, the oil temperatures in the DCT transmission start to climb and the car defaults into 2wd mode when the temps approach 140 degrees. Indeed Nissan recommends that the oil should be replaced if the temperatures get this high.
The HKS 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R GR6 DCT Oil Cooler kit incorporates the following features:-
- Maximised cooler due to relocated oil cooler core in front left hand of bumper
- Special FRP ducting for efficient core cooling
- 10mm Oil feed pipes for improved oil circulation
- Oil outlet attachments that are specially designed for the GR6 version of the Nissan R35 GT-R
During HKS testing at the Fuji Speedway circuit using a professional driver, the HKS DCT Oil Cooler kit enabled continuous lapping with a stable oil temperature of 127 degrees C (during testing with the stock Nissan DCT system the temperatures reached 135 degrees C and the test was stopped.) The HKS DCT Oil Cooler kit also reduced the water temperature by 5 degrees C.
Carrying part number 27002-AN 004, pre-orders are now being taken for the HKS DCT Oil Cooler for the 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R. Leading Lotus race championships to use Torque Developments expertise for 2012
Recognising its unique expertise, facilities and ‘can-do’ attitude, Torque Developments has been retained by the three key Lotus race series as official performance validator, a role it has enjoyed since 2008.
The role, which requires Torque Developments to accurately and independently measure a race car’s power output both on site and at the circuit using its advanced Rototest hub dyno, covers the Lotus Cup UK, Cup Europe and Lotus On Track Elise Trophy championships. All three Lotus series feature classes divided into strict power limits and Torque Development’s role it to police these classes and ensure equality of performance within a reasonable tolerance level.
Every Lotus entrant must present that season’s current power curve from Torque Developments as part of the pre race scrutineering process, meaning that the entire pack of all three championships will have to undergo pre-season dyno testing at the company’s Thurrock base before the first round.
The portable nature of the company’s Rototest dyno also enables Torque Developments to conduct post qualifying dyno ‘spot checks’ unannounced at the circuits throughout the 2012 season – if the peak horsepower result is higher than the prevailing class limit then the drivers are relegated to the back of the grid or the car is barred from competing until a legal power test result is achieved.
Commenting on the announcement, Paul Golding, the series’ organiser said “We’re absolutely delighted that TDI (Torque Developments International) will be continuing their valued support of all three LOTRDC run race series in 2012. Having been at the heart of policing all three Lotus series in 2011: the all new Lotus Cup UK Championship, the hugely successful Lotus Cup Europe and the Elise Trophy, it’s important that we have continuity in the way regulations and especially power are policed.
Over the last four years TDI have gained a reputation amongst the Lotus Motorsport fraternity for their knowledge, accuracy and professionalism to a point where they are recognised as the experts at not just producing a level playing field for drivers who want to compete but at mapping cars for performance and reliability something that is becoming more important with the longer races Lotus Cup UK in particular is providing. We look forward to working alongside TDI for Lotus Cup UK and the Elise Trophy in 2012. While Lotus Motorsport are also looking forward to again working with TDI for Lotus Cup Europe as series that is owned by Group Lotus, policed by Lotus Motorsport and run on their behalf by LoTRDC.”
Torque Developments wishes competitors, organisers and officials from the Lotus community a successful early start to the 2012 racing season.
Wavetrac® – the ultimate Nissan 350 / 370Z limited slip differential – now on sale at Torque Developments plc
Torque Developments plc announces a Wavetrac® limited slip differential for manual transmission versions of the popular Nissan 350 / 370Z coupe models. Designed to greatly improve traction by reducing wheelspin, the Wavetrac® differential for the 350Z / 370Z is a more advanced design than any other LSD on sale today, offering a superior driving experience for the discerning Nissan owner who enjoys frequent high performance driving or trackday use.
What makes the Wavetrac® Nissan 350 / 370Z differential different? To best understand how the Nissan 350 / 370Z Wavetrac® unit is truly different from the other gear differentials on the market, you first have to understand the primary problem that the Wavetrac® LSD solves – the ‘zero-load’ condition.
Zero axle-load is a condition that occurs during normal driving, but creates the most noticeable problems when driving in extreme driving conditions, such as trackdays, when one drive wheel is nearly or completely lifted (often in aggressive cornering). In these conditions, all other gear differentials will loose drive and behave like a factory ‘open’ diff’.
The Wavetrac® unit for the Nissan 350 / 370Z is designed specifically to overcome this problem, thanks to the innovative, patent-pending, Wavetrac® device located in the centre of the differential. During zero-load or near zero-load conditions the Wavetrac® device responds allowing the axles (and therefore each side gear in the diff) to start to turn at different speeds.
This speed differential causes the Wavetrac® device to step into action: Precisely engineered wave profiles are placed on one side gear and its mating preload hub. As the two side gears rotate relative to each other, each wave surface climbs the other, causing them to move apart. Very quickly, this creates enough internal load within the Wavetrac® to STOP the zero axle-load condition. The zero axle-load condition is halted, and the drive torque is applied to the wheel on the ground (the gripping wheel) keeping the power down and the car driving forward in a controllable manner.
The Wavetrac® is the only differential that can automatically add more load internally when it’s required. In the case where both wheels are on the ground during zero axle load, such as during a transition to deceleration, the Wavetrac® device is able to prepare the drivetrain for when the zero torque condition stops, eliminating the delay seen with ordinary gear diffs. What this means for you as a driver is that power is delivered to the gripping wheels for more time and in a more constant manner, making you faster and improving stability. The Wavetrac® truly is different – and its innovative features can make a real difference to your Nissan’s performance.
The Wavetrac® advantages – ensuring the best for your Nissan 350 / 370Z It’s not just the Wavetrac®’s performance that’s different, the Wavetrac® Nissan 350 / 370Z is produced differently. Here’s the key Wavetrac® features:-
* Internally, the Wavetrac®’s gear tooth forms are optimised for strength and improved oil film retention over competitor designs
* The Wavetrac® gear package is smaller, reducing overall mass, yet is more durable, since particular attention was paid to the tooth strength – perfect for high torque conditions
* Attention was also paid to the side gear/axle interface, putting as much material thickness as possible in this critical area – most important when power levels get high
* The Wavetrac® Nissan 350 / 370Z LSD uses high strength 9310 steel gears
* Wavetrac® uses case hardened, billet or forged steel housings for longevity
* ARP® fasteners are used throughout – we specify the best
Wavetrac®’s manufacturing tolerances and finish requirements meet or exceed all OEM standards. All Wavetrac® differentials are built in American plants operating to ISO9002 and TS16949 standards, with quality control systems that verify components at every step as they travel through the manufacturing process.
So if you appreciate the best in performance and quality limited slip differentials for your Nissan 350 / 370Z, you’ll appreciate the Wavetrac®.difference.
