New TODA ‘High Power’ performance exhausts for the Honda NSX from Torque Developments (TDi plc)

Honda’s NSX is the stuff of legend. Developed with input from Ayrton Senna, produced by Honda for 15 years with only minor changes, it’s the Japanese supercar that shook the Italians and forced them to raise their game.

Which means that when it comes to fitting a NSX with performance exhaust it needs to be a top quality item befitting of the Honda supercar’s legend – which is where Japanese tuning house TODA Racing comes in.

It’s just launched a new range of ‘High Power’ exhausts for both the 3.0-litre (C30A, 270bhp,) and 3.2-litre (C32B, 290bhp) variants of the Honda NSX.

Featuring an innovative ‘X-pipe’ between the two silencer boxes to minimise back pressure and maximise the aural experience from the NSX’s high revving V6 engine, the TODA ‘High Power’ exhaust features 60mm diameter internal tubing and slash cut round tailpipes boasting a smart titanium blue finish.

Surely these TODA exhausts are perfect for any discerning Honda NSX owner and they are available now from TODA Europe, priced at £2025.00 excluding taxes.

Honda S2000 HKS ‘twisted’ 4-2-1 exhaust manifold – coming soon!

The second of HKS’s new for Honda S2000 tuning goodies that were on display at the recent 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon – a new design of 4-2-1 tubular stainless steel high performance exhaust manifold that’s designed to boost low and mid-range torque without compromising the F20C’s legendary top end power.

As with the factory exhaust manifold, the new HKS Honda S2000 exhaust manifold is a 4-2-1 design, but the key difference is that the secondary pipes on the new HKS manifold are twisted to enable them to be longer, which boosts low and mid-range torque.

HKS also reports that the new Honda S2000 ‘twisted’ exhaust manifold also reduces detonation, enabling users to run a wider spread of ignition advance to boost power even further. Combine this with a top quality stainless steel construction that’s been optimised to maximise flow and reduce back pressure, the new HKS ‘Twisted’ manifold is set to be  a must have for Honda S2000 owners!

Pre-orders for the HKS Honda S2000 ‘Twisted’ exhaust manifold are being taken now, so to express your interest please email Torque Developments using sales@tdi-plc.com

Knowledge is power – Torque Developments launches Academy of Motorsport Sciences

Have you ever wanted to learn more about how to improve your car’s performance, but don’t have the time to dedicate to studying motorsport engineering for three years? Torque Developments now has the answer in the form of a new educational initiative called the Academy for Motorsport Sciences (AMS.)

Run in collaboration with the Rainham based Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME,) each AMS course is designed to teach the fundamental sciences which support motorsport engineering related subjects.

As of January 2012, the Academy of Motorsport Sciences is able to offer students separate short courses covering the key areas of vehicle Powertrain Dynamics, Chassis Dynamics, Aero Dynamics and Electronic Systems.

The Academy’s classroom activities are held at the impressive Centre for Mechanical and Engineering facility at Rainham, Essex, while the course’s practical activities are held at the advanced Rototest chassis dynamometer facility at Torque Developments International facility in Thurrock.

Designed as a mixture of classroom based theoretical and workshop based practical activity, the Academy of Motorsport Sciences’ courses are designed to appeal to a wide audience. This includes motorsport and tuning sector industry professionals seeking to refresh or advance their knowledge, motorsport engineering educational tutors and students, motor industry technicians and car performance enthusiasts seeking to expand their skill set.

The Academy’s instructors benefit from a thorough knowledge of the subject, with the ability to communicate the key points simply and clearly. In combination with small class participation numbers this means that Academy students gain the maximum value from each course.

All students attending the Academy of Motorsport Sciences’ courses will receive a course certificate that’s recognised by the Institute of the Motor Industry. IMI members will get credits towards their Continuous Professional Development objectives.

Each Academy of Motorsport Science course is priced individually and lasts for up to two days. Aside from the expert tuition and first class facilities, the course fee includes refreshments throughout the day, lunch at the CEME (where used) and the IMI recognised course completion certificate.

The Academy of Motorsport Sciences will initially run courses on a monthly basis, but frequency will be tailored to demand. The next Engine Management Systems course is being held on 7th/8th February 2012 then subsequently on the first Wednesday/Thursday of every month.

Prices for Academy of Motorsport Science classes start at just £495.00 plus VAT. Please note, course fees are tax deductable and VAT can be reclaimed for qualifying businesses.

Please freephone Torque Developments using 0800 107 3250 (+44 01708 866609 for overseas enquiries,) to reserve your place on the next available course session. For more information please click on:- http://tinyurl.com/6uv5ugu

HKS DCT transmission oil cooler for 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R GR6

Arriving soon at TDi-plc (Torque Developments) the HKS DCT transmission Oil Cooler kit for the 2011 Nissan R35 GT-R with the GR6 semi-automatic gearbox. Designed for both road and track driving, the HKS DCT Oil Cooler is designed to protect the clutch and transmission, plus offers a firmer gearshift – realistically if you want to take your GT-R on trackdays, you’re going to need an HKS DCT cooler kit.

Now being pre-ordered at TDi-plc, HKS has designed the DCT Oil Cooler kit to overcome the problems when the stock Nissan R35 GT-R is driven in a spirited manner, particularly on track. If subjected to any prolonged driving where the front and rear axle speeds differ, the oil temperatures in the DCT transmission start to climb and the car defaults into 2wd mode when the temps approach 140 degrees. Indeed Nissan recommends that the oil should be replaced if the temperatures get this high.

The HKS 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R GR6 DCT Oil Cooler kit incorporates the following features:-

  • Maximised cooler due to relocated oil cooler core in front left hand of bumper
  • Special FRP ducting for efficient core cooling
  • 10mm Oil feed pipes for improved oil circulation
  • Oil outlet attachments that are specially designed for the GR6 version of the Nissan R35 GT-R

During HKS testing at the Fuji Speedway circuit using a professional driver, the HKS DCT Oil Cooler kit enabled continuous lapping with a stable oil temperature of 127 degrees C (during testing with the stock Nissan DCT system the temperatures reached 135 degrees C and the test was stopped.) The HKS DCT Oil Cooler kit also reduced the water temperature by 5 degrees C.

Carrying part number 27002-AN 004, pre-orders are now being taken for the HKS DCT Oil Cooler for the 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R. Contact Torque Developments (TDi-plc) using freephone 0800 107 3250 or email sales@tdi-plc.com NOTE: This product has been developed for right hand drive 2011 MY Nissan R35 GT-R GR6 cars only.
