TODA launches low compression stroker kits for Toyota MR2 turbo and Celica 3S-GTE engine
The venerable 3S-GTE engine may date back to the late 1980s, but it’s still highly popular for Toyota fans seeking high power and torque outputs in the rapid MR2 Turbo and Celica ST205 / GT-Four models. Hence why leading Japanese tuning house TODA Racing is pleased to announce the launch of a pair of new stroker kits for the 3S-GTE motor, designed to enlarge its standard 1998cc capacity to either 2161cc or 2211cc, greatly increasing the engine’s torque and brake horsepower. With this in mind the TODA Racing 3S-GTE stroker kits incorporate high strength internals, purpose designed to withstand significant increases in power output. In addition, both TODA Racing kits use specially designed low compression pistons, allowing the use of high turbo boost levels and reduced detonation risk. Key features of the TODA Racing 3S-GTE stroker kits include:-
- A 93 mm, long stroke, dynamically balanced forged steel crankshaft (standard stroke is 86 mm)
- Forged steel I-section connecting rods with fully floating small end bushes and central oil feeds to the gudgeon pins
- High strength gudgeon pins and ARP connecting rod bolts
- Forged alloy pistons balanced to within +/- 0.25 grams and with improved oil return system to provide superior lubrication at high outputs
- Low compression piston design – an 8.2:1 ratio can be achieved with a 1.5mm thick head gaskets
- ‘Defric’ coating on piston skirts to reduce friction and aid running in
- A choice of capacities – 2161cc (using 86mm TODA pistons) and 2211cc (using 87mm TODA pistons)

TODA launches high compression forged pistons, I-beam connecting rods and ‘High Stopper’ metal head gasket for Honda K24A engines
Honda’s K24A motor is increasingly finding its way into the engine bays of Civic and Integra models. Why? Because it’s an easy swap to mate the K20A I-VTEC engine’s cylinder head to the K24A’s block, thus creating a big bore ‘gorilla’ engine at relatively low cost that easily fits straight into a Civic EP3, FN2 or Integra DC-5.
But to produce a really high power K24A / I-VTEC engine requires super strong internals, which is where TODA Racing’s expertise is unparalleled, hence its latest releases for the big bore Honda motor; a high compression forged piston and I-beam connecting rod set, plus a ‘High Stopper’ metal head gasket.
i) TODA K24A High compression forged alloy pistons and I-section con rods
Available in two bore sizes (87.00mm and 87.50mm,) the TODA Racing forged high compression ‘power profile’ pistons produce capacities of 2354cc and 2381cc when used with the standard 99mm stroke K24A crankshaft. The TODA Racing K24A pistons are CNC machined to a crown volume of 6.5cc and are produced from the highest quality aluminium forgings on a 3000 tonne press.
Key technical features of the TODA Racing K24A pistons include:-
- Balanced as a set to within +/- 0.25 grammes
- Improved oil removal system designed for tuned applications
- High strength gudgeon pins
- Defric coating applied to skirts to aid running in and reduce internal friction
Produced from the highest quality forged chrome moly steel, the TODA Racing I-beam connecting rods are the ideal compliment to the forged pistons and come complete with fully floating small end bushes and are fully balanced as a set.

Designed specifically to provide the ultimate seal for big bore K24A block / K20A I-VTEC headed ‘gorilla’ engines, the metal ‘High stopper’ gasket is available in three different formats which accommodate the differences between the older and newer style K20A I-VTEC cylinder heads:-
a) For EP-3 / DC-5 K20A I-VTEC heads onto K24A block, 0.6mm thick
b) For FD2 / FN2 K20A I-VTEC heads onto K24A block, 0.3mm thick
c) For FD2 / FN2 K20A I-VTEC heads onto K24A block, 0.6mm thick

TODA Racing releases 1933cc stroker kits for Toyota 2ZZ-GE VVTL-i engine used in S2 Lotus Elise / Exige and Celica
Used in the Toyota Celica T230, as well as the Series Two Lotus Elise and Exige, the Toyota 2ZZ-GE VVTL-I engine has found many fans thanks to its rev happy nature, 189bhp power output and famed reliability. One criticism levelled at the Toyota 2ZZ-GE motor is its lack of capacity, particularly in motorsport, where its 1796cc displacement can leave it struggling to match competitors in classes where 2.0-litre engines are the norm.
Now leading Japanese tuning house TODA Racing has a solution, in the form of a stroker engine kit which enlarges the capacity of the 2ZZ-GE to 1933cc, greatly increasing its low end torque and power output. The extra capacity is achieved via a specially designed forged steel crankshaft which lengthens the stroke of the engine from 85mm to 91.5mm.
Key technical features of the TODA Racing 2ZZ-GE 1933cc stroker kit include:-
- Computer designed, dynamically balanced, forged steel TODA 91.5mm long stroke crankshaft
