HKS performance exhausts & induction upgrades now available from TDi-plc for Nissan Juke
Nissan’s Juke is real ‘Marmite’ car. Some would say that it’s a surefire entrant for the Ugly Bug ball, while others would say that it’s bold styling reflects Nissan’s attempts to stand out from the ‘urban crossover’ crowd.
Either way, one thing petrolheads are sure to agree on is that the Nissan Juke would benefit from some high performance personalisation in form of a brand spanking new range of upgrades from our good friends at HKS.
Nissan Juke HKS Racing Suction Reloaded
Starting on the inlet side, HKS has unveiled a Racing Suction Reloaded induction kit, which gives a measurable power increase, plus a sporty intake noise and a great underbonnet appearance courtesy of a buff finished alloy pipe and red aluminium cylinder head louvre. Knowledge is power – Torque Developments launches Academy of Motorsport Sciences
Have you ever wanted to learn more about how to improve your car’s performance, but don’t have the time to dedicate to studying motorsport engineering for three years? Torque Developments now has the answer in the form of a new educational initiative called the Academy for Motorsport Sciences (AMS.)
Run in collaboration with the Rainham based Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME,) each AMS course is designed to teach the fundamental sciences which support motorsport engineering related subjects.
As of January 2012, the Academy of Motorsport Sciences is able to offer students separate short courses covering the key areas of vehicle Powertrain Dynamics, Chassis Dynamics, Aero Dynamics and Electronic Systems.
The Academy’s classroom activities are held at the impressive Centre for Mechanical and Engineering facility at Rainham, Essex, while the course’s practical activities are held at the advanced Rototest chassis dynamometer facility at Torque Developments International facility in Thurrock.
Designed as a mixture of classroom based theoretical and workshop based practical activity, the Academy of Motorsport Sciences’ courses are designed to appeal to a wide audience. This includes motorsport and tuning sector industry professionals seeking to refresh or advance their knowledge, motorsport engineering educational tutors and students, motor industry technicians and car performance enthusiasts seeking to expand their skill set.
The Academy’s instructors benefit from a thorough knowledge of the subject, with the ability to communicate the key points simply and clearly. In combination with small class participation numbers this means that Academy students gain the maximum value from each course.
All students attending the Academy of Motorsport Sciences’ courses will receive a course certificate that’s recognised by the Institute of the Motor Industry. IMI members will get credits towards their Continuous Professional Development objectives.
Each Academy of Motorsport Science course is priced individually and lasts for up to two days. Aside from the expert tuition and first class facilities, the course fee includes refreshments throughout the day, lunch at the CEME (where used) and the IMI recognised course completion certificate.
The Academy of Motorsport Sciences will initially run courses on a monthly basis, but frequency will be tailored to demand. The next Engine Management Systems course is being held on 7th/8th February 2012 then subsequently on the first Wednesday/Thursday of every month.
Prices for Academy of Motorsport Science classes start at just £495.00 plus VAT. Please note, course fees are tax deductable and VAT can be reclaimed for qualifying businesses.

Torque Developments appointed MSVR Technical Partner for two key championships
Torque Developments is proud and delighted to have been appointed as Technical Partner to MSVR – the racing arm of UK circuit owner Motorsport Vision – with key responsibilities for MSVR’s Trackday Trophy and Team Trophy for the forthcoming 2012 season.
Torque Development’s role as MSVR Technical Partner entails engine performance validation and race regulation compliance, which requires the firm to independently measure each race car’s power output prior to the opening rounds of the 2012 season at its Thurrock headquarters.
In addition Torque Developments will continue to verify power outputs trackside using its advanced, portable Rototest VPA-R hub dyno, which boasts 4wd capability and measures up to 1500 bhp at the hubs. Torque Developments dyno test to corrected industry standards and with complete accuracy.
MSVR’s Trackday Trophy limits competitor’s cars to a maximum performance of 175 bhp per ton, meanwhile the Team Trophy’s grids are split across four classes, ranging from 125-200 bhp per ton.
Commenting on the announcement, Torque Development’s Mark Catchpole said ‘This is a prestigious role for us to undertake and we’re delighted that MSVR has chosen Torque Developments to oversee the power outputs for both the Trackday Trophy and the Team Trophy.
