1000 bhp capable Nissan R35 GT-R HKS High flow surge tank and Twin Injector Pro kit from TDi-Plc

HKS really has a handle on tuning the VR38DETT engine in the Nissan R35 GT-R and is now knocking on a genuine 1000 bhp power output!

As part of this process the technicians at HKS in Japan have uncovered the major restrictions on the VR38DETT engine and are rapidly developing top quality components to improve matters. And their latest release is a great case in point – a new high performance plenum (called the High-Flow Surge Kit) which is designed to equalise the intake air volume across all six cylinders of the VR38DETT motor, while boosting throttle response and the air flow demands of a 1000 bhp engine.

Here are the key facts about the HKS High Flow Surge Kit for the Nissan R35 GT-R:-

  • Cast plenum that’s seperate from the VR38DETT’s intake manifold
  • Larger diameter ports and different port shape to suit high power engines
  • Plenum volume optimised for engine reponse rather than top end bhp to ensure a good spread of power
  • Funnel design in end tanks of the ports to optimise air flow from the sides of the plenum to increase air volume
  • Allows reuse of stock air temperature sensor, adaptors, breather pipe, connecting pipe

Fitment of the High-Flow Surge tank is typically well thought our by HKS – it’s a straight bolt on job without the need for cutting, crimping or any other intrusive procedures that might detract from reliability on what’s not exactly a cheap car…

And that’s why HKS has also developed a Twin Injector Pro Kit for to suit the new plenum. This includes a specially designed fuel rail and other components to suit the easy installation of additional injectors for high powrr VR38DETT engines. 

HKS doesn’t include injectors in this kit, but it’s been designed to accommodate individual preference for secondary injector sizes. HKS includes adaptors to suit the stock R35 GT-R injectors within the kit and these can be replaced to suit the chosen injector preference.

Hondata ECU remapping system now available for Honda CR-Z Sports hybrid

We love the Honda CR-Z hybrid here at Torque Developments! We love its looks and its economy, but it’s simply not fast enough to excite. As standard the driving experience leaves us wanting more…

Cosworth launches the ulimate pistons for the Toyota 2ZZ-GE engined Lotus, Celica & MR2

We’re big fans of Toyota’s awesome little 2ZZ-GE here at TDi-plc, as it’s found in some of our favourite cars, including the Lotus ELise / Exige, the Celica and the MR2. It’s also an increasingly popular choice for tuning and, as always with engine tuning, to get top results you need top quality parts - Cosworth parts!

The latest Cosworth release for the Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine are forged pistons. Designed and manufactured 100% in house at Cosworth Engineering, the forged pistons use an optimised dome shape to maximise the compression ratio in combination with a design that features the most efficient use of materials.

With a wide variety of requirements in mind from turbo conversions to motorsport, the Cosworth forged Toyota 2ZZ-GE pistons are available in three compression ratio choices: 10.0:1, 12.0:1 and 14.0:1.

As well as being considerably stronger than the standard Toyota pistons, the Cosworth 2ZZ-GE forged pistons are up to 18% lighter, which helps to reduce the reciprocating mass of the engine.

A green Xylan Teflon based coating is used on the skirts of the 2ZZ-GE pistons to reduce friction. This coating also ensures that the Cosworth forged pistons are directly compatible with the Toyota engine’s metal matrix composite (MMC) liners.

Honda S2000 HKS ‘twisted’ 4-2-1 exhaust manifold – coming soon!

The second of HKS’s new for Honda S2000 tuning goodies that were on display at the recent 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon – a new design of 4-2-1 tubular stainless steel high performance exhaust manifold that’s designed to boost low and mid-range torque without compromising the F20C’s legendary top end power.

As with the factory exhaust manifold, the new HKS Honda S2000 exhaust manifold is a 4-2-1 design, but the key difference is that the secondary pipes on the new HKS manifold are twisted to enable them to be longer, which boosts low and mid-range torque.

HKS also reports that the new Honda S2000 ‘twisted’ exhaust manifold also reduces detonation, enabling users to run a wider spread of ignition advance to boost power even further. Combine this with a top quality stainless steel construction that’s been optimised to maximise flow and reduce back pressure, the new HKS ‘Twisted’ manifold is set to be  a must have for Honda S2000 owners!
